Testing personnel experiment:
When the ambient temperature for bamboo charcoal to adsorb formaldehyde was raised to 35 ℃, it was found that its adsorption capacity weakened at high temperatures. Every 100 grams of bamboo charcoal can adsorb 410 milligrams of formaldehyde.
From this perspective, under high temperatures in summer, the ability of bamboo charcoal to adsorb formaldehyde decreases significantly, while the rate of formaldehyde release increases significantly.
According to Dr. Huang Shaodan from the Building Environment Testing Center of Tsinghua University, formaldehyde molecules have a strong activity ability at high temperatures, so they are easy to escape from the adsorption of activated carbon. At low temperatures, activated carbon has a strong ability to adsorb formaldehyde, while at high temperatures, it is relatively weak.
From this perspective, when using bamboo charcoal, it is important to avoid placing it in areas with excessively high temperatures to prevent a decrease in its adsorption capacity.
For bamboo charcoal that has already been saturated with adsorption, it can be exposed to sunlight or taken to a well ventilated place to blow with a hair dryer. By using high temperature to regenerate the activated carbon, its adsorption capacity can be restored.
